Weird title, right? Yeah, that’s an inside joke we probably shouldn’t talk about in too much detail. Let’s just say we were brainstorming ideas and slipped into a silly tangent that got gross (but hilarious) quickly!
But it did give us an idea for a helpful article—50 things you definitely need to recycle! Here’s a big ol’ list of stuff you should send to the recycling center instead of the trash bin…
We’re not talkin’ pizza boxes here (Those are basically trash, unfortunately). We’re talking about those boxes used for packing, shipping and storage, and other similar items.
Many of these things break down after a while and are too expensive to fix. But appliances can be recycled and used for parts!
Things like these often get cast aside each year for the latest and greatest upgrades. We recommend selling or donating electronics first and recycling them if those options don’t work.
As Lance Chastek (Owner of Certified Recycling) would say, “Batteries have a tendency to go boom-boom.” Never throw batteries into a trash or recycling bin! Always bring them to your nearest recycling center for proper disposal.
Plopped onto your chair recently and busted straight through it? Yeah, that’s happened to us before, too. Luckily, recycling centers will gladly take them and break them down in an eco-friendly way.
How often have you seen random car parts on the side of the road? *Sigh* Way too much! Please don’t dump your auto stuff into ditches. It’s bad for Mama Earth and clutters the highway.
Old lights getting dim or completely burned out? Box ‘em up and take ‘em to the recycling center!
One thing you learn after a few years of homeownership is that if things can break down, they will break down. If any of these items fall into disrepair and become junk, your nearest recycling company should be able to help you get rid of them!
